Canberra Community Law’s Social Worker service can provide emotional and social support if you are contacting our Centre with legal issues.
Our Social Worker can offer:
- One-off support, information, referral and assistance,
- Case management support for clients with a legal case on foot including short term support, advocacy, warm referrals, information and liaison.
Please note our Social Worker service can not give legal advice. Our legal advisers or lawyers can refer you to our Social Worker.
Socio-Legal Practice (SLP) Clinic
Canberra Community Law also offers a clinic which provides intensive social work for people over 18 who have urgent housing, disability discrimination and Centrelink problems, a high level of vulnerability and no support. The clinic operates from our office at Turner on Monday and Tuesday mornings and is staffed by a lawyer and social worker. The SLP offers 12 weeks of intensive early intervention legal and social work assistance and aims to provide enough support to enable a person to get on top of their problem/s.
Community and support workers can make referrals to the clinic using the referral form.
